Oral Surgeons Dr. Larry Stewart and Dr. Wayne Michael
Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons
Your decision of who you choose to provide surgical services can make a big difference! As board certified surgeons, Dr. Stewart and Dr. Michael are trained to provide you with optimal surgical care. There are many choices in who you can choose for your care.. Make sure your provider is board certified.
What does it mean to be “board-certified”?
Every doctor must have their credentials approved by a state licensing board. This does not mean they are board certified! Being “board-certified” means that a doctor has voluntarily decided to be examined and approved by their peers, as having exceptional knowledge of their specialty, through a national written certifying exam and rigorous questioning by experts in their field. Thus, board certification represents that an oral and maxillofacial surgeon has demonstrated a high level of dedication, knowledge and work ethic above and beyond standard expectations. It represents someone strongly dedicated to providing their patients with the highest quality in care and service.
American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons
Only those dentists who have undergone an accredited residency training program after dental school, in the surgical specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery may become members of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the professional organization representing more than 9,000 oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States. AAOMS supports its members’ ability to practice their specialty through education, research and advocacy. AAOMS members comply with rigorous continuing education requirements and submit to periodic office evaluations, assuring the public that office procedures and personnel meet stringent national standards.
